'Friendship Connected by Song, Dreams Blossomed in Harmony'... 13th Yangsan National Youth Choir Competition Concludes Successfully

The 13th Yangsan National Youth Choir Competition, hosted and organized by Yangsan City and the Yangsan Youth Center, concluded successfully at the Grand Performance Hall of the Yangsan Culture & Arts Center on September 20.

This year's competition brought together young participants from across the country, including Cheongju in North Chungcheong Province, Jinhae in South Gyeongsang Province, Busan, and Yangsan. Through choir performances, these youths built friendships and shared the values of harmony and consideration, making the event especially meaningful.

In particular, the preliminary round saw fierce competition with 22 teams applying, and the 8 teams selected for the finals delivered passionate performances that showcased their unique personalities and musical styles, moving an audience of over 800 people.

Yangsan City Deputy Mayor Kim Shinho attended the competition and said, "I hope that the youths gathered from all over the country will come together in harmony as one, and that this will be a precious time to connect hearts and share empathy." He offered encouragement to the youth and expressed gratitude and a warm welcome to the audience.

This year, the Yangsan Youth Choir won the grand prize, receiving 4 million won in prize money, the Yangsan Mayor's Award, and the Best Conductor Award with an additional 1 million won for their leader.

The Yangsan Children's Choir and the Haeundae-gu Children's Choir received the top excellence awards, while the remaining five teams were awarded excellence prizes, making it a time for all participating youths to share the fruits of their efforts on stage.

The Yangsan National Youth Choir Competition began as a local festival in 2011 and was elevated to a national event in 2016. It has since established itself as a platform for promoting youth culture and the arts, as well as for choir exchanges. This year, once again, the competition demonstrated its prestige through high-level performances and enthusiastic support.

A Yangsan City official stated, "The Youth Choir Competition is more than just a contest; it is a valuable opportunity for youths nationwide to unite through music. We will continue to expand opportunities for young people to develop and showcase their talents in the future."
