The Global Sharing Movement, chaired by Kim Hyekyung, announced on September 23 that it has successfully concluded the second round of the "Madeca Pharmacia Global Solsol Eco Challengers" program, which was carried out in partnership with Dongkook Pharmaceutical.
This program, which involved 30 young participants aged 19 to 29, was held in Inje, Gangwon Province. Over three intensive days of field experience and education in the DMZ, the initiative aimed to nurture the next generation of environmental leaders committed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15, which focuses on the conservation of terrestrial ecosystems.
The exploration on the morning of the second day was notable for providing hands-on experience in environmental conservation within the symbolic setting of the DMZ. Through a walking tour of the Inje DMZ Peace Trail, including Hill 1052 and other sites, all participants were able to experience the natural ecosystem of the DMZ firsthand.
The program placed special emphasis on global environmental issues and the importance of international cooperation. The team of expert mentors and lecturers included Jung Sunghun, Chairman of the Korea DMZ Peace Life Valley; Oh Joon, former UN Ambassador; Lee Youngok, CEO of Jade Education Consulting; Lee Jongcheol, CEO of JC&Company; Jin Gwanwoo, CEO of Sumtangeotdeul; and Park Hyuk, Head of the OTC Business Division at Dongkook Pharmaceutical.
Participants completed team missions that combined Dongkook Pharmaceutical's Madeca Pharmacia products with the theme of biodiversity to create environmental protection content. All participants received certificates for completing the "Eco Challengers 2nd Generation" program, and those who delivered outstanding results were given special awards.
Kim Hyekyung, Chairperson of the Global Sharing Movement, stated, "Based on over 20 years of expertise in international development cooperation, the Global Sharing Movement has developed the Eco Challengers program to elevate the environmental awareness of young people in Korea to a global level." She emphasized, "The greatest achievement is that, through systematic education linked to the UN SDGs, young people now recognize environmental conservation not merely as a campaign but as a global imperative."
Song Junho, CEO of Dongkook Pharmaceutical, the program’s sponsor, said, "Our support for the Eco Challengers program reflects our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management philosophy and commitment to social responsibility." He added, "The meaningful results achieved were made possible by the synergy between the nature-friendly values pursued by the Madeca Pharmacia brand and the commitment of young people to environmental conservation." He further stated, "Going forward, Dongkook Pharmaceutical will continue to contribute to environmental conservation and the development of young talent through partnerships with specialized NGOs such as the Global Sharing Movement."
