Teenage Delivery Worker Immediately Reports to Police
Owner Offers 200,000 Won Reward, But Worker Politely Declines
The good deed of a teenage Chinese delivery worker who found and returned gold bars worth 400 million won on Precious Metals Street has become a hot topic.
According to Vietnam's VN Express on the 22nd, Xiao Xie, a 17-year-old delivery worker, discovered gold bars weighing 2.27 kilograms and worth 200,000 yuan (approximately 390 million won) by chance on Shuibei Street in Shenzhen, China, and reported them to the police. He said, "The gold bars were very heavy. I thought the person who lost them must be extremely worried, so I handed them over to the police right away."
He handed the gold bars to the police officers, who then checked CCTV footage and used a loudspeaker to search for the owner. A few hours later, the owner came forward with a purchase receipt and identification to reclaim the gold bars. The owner offered Xiao a reward of 1,000 yuan (about 200,000 won), but Xiao declined. He said, "It was my first time seeing such a large gold bar. I am happy to have helped someone. It truly feels like fate."
In recognition of Xiao's good deed, a special reward is being prepared. His supervisor praised him, saying, "Although he has not been with us long, Xiao is very responsible and always completes his deliveries on time."
The Shuibei area, where the gold bars were found, is China's largest hub for gold trading and processing, accounting for 70 to 80 percent of the nation's transactions. The media reported, "This incident quickly became a sensation online, and many people were impressed by the young man's honesty."
