Yeongwol County in Gangwon Province will hold the opening ceremony for Cheongryeongpo Garden, a project promoted as a pledge during the 7th and 8th popularly elected administrations, at 5 p.m. on September 25 at 42 Bangjeol-ri, Yeongwol-eup.
Cheongryeongpo Garden is a complex garden composed of five themed gardens centered on the relationship between forests and humans, a garden designed by artists, a background forest, and various experiential and convenience facilities. It has been created as a four-season garden that goes beyond a simple resting space, integrating ecological education, cultural experiences, and art exhibitions. In conjunction with nearby Jangneung and Cheongryeongpo, it is expected to become a representative tourism resource for Yeongwol.
In addition, the smart complex rest area "Cheongryeong Forest (Chungnyeong for rest)" on National Route 38, established as part of a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport contest project, will also be operated together. This site is equipped with food and beverage facilities such as a cafe and restaurant, and the exhibition hall on the second floor will feature the first exhibition of works by the Yeongwol Geulmaru Calligraphy Club (President Oh Buyoung), showcasing beautiful calligraphy and plants harmonized with the garden. Visitors are expected to enjoy both a stroll through the garden and cultural and artistic exhibitions.
Choi Myungseo, Mayor of Yeongwol County, stated, "With the opening of Cheongryeongpo Garden, following Yeondang Garden in Dongseogang Garden, Yeongwol has become a rare city nationwide to possess two local gardens. I hope many people will visit Cheongryeongpo Garden to experience the stories contained in Yeongwol's gardens and find healing and relaxation in nature."
