On September 23, Gangwon Province Special Self-Governing Province and the Gangwon Tourism Organization announced that they have selected Cheorwon County and Jeongseon County as the recommended travel destinations for October as part of the "2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Years" campaign, and will launch large-scale promotional marketing efforts. In October, they plan to focus on promoting Cheorwon's "Goseokjeong Flower Field" and Jeongseon's "Mindungsan Mountain."

The "Goseokjeong Flower Field" in Cheorwon began as a project where local residents planted and cared for flowers on a former military training site. Visitors can enjoy a variety of flowers, including cockscomb, globe amaranth, and zinnia.

Especially from August 27 to November 2, the autumn opening season offers even more beautiful scenery. Other attractions include the "Cheorwon Hantangang Columnar Jointing Trail," a walkway along the columnar joints of the Hantangang River, which has been designated a UNESCO Global Geopark; the "Eunhasu Bridge," a 180-meter-long bridge that offers impressive views of the columnar joint canyon; and the "Torch Observatory," where visitors can experience the history and symbolism of Cheorwon.

Additionally, recommended experiences include the "Cheorwon Hantangang Mulwitgil," a riverside trail for viewing the columnar joints while walking above the Hantangang River; the "Soisan Monorail," which takes visitors up the mountain for panoramic views of the Cheorwon Plain; and the "DMZ Ecological Peace Park," where visitors can experience the pristine ecosystem of the DMZ, which was closed to the public for 60 years.

Jeongseon's "Mindungsan Mountain" is one of the top five silver grass colonies in Korea, covered in waves of silver grass in autumn. With gentle hiking trails and doline terrain that make for picturesque photo spots, it offers year-round appeal. In particular, visitors can fully experience its charm during the Mindungsan Silver Grass Festival, held from October to November.

Other recommended attractions include the "Jeongseon Gariwangsan Cable Car," which offers views of lush forests and open landscapes; "Hwaam Cave," a themed cave utilizing natural limestone caves and a former gold mine; the "Jeongseon Rail Bike," where visitors can pedal along the railway from Gujeol Station to Auraji Station while enjoying beautiful natural scenery; and the "Byeongbangchi Skywalk," a glass observatory overlooking the Donggang River, which resembles the Korean Peninsula.

At the Jeongseon Arirang Market, visitors can experience the atmosphere of a traditional rural market during the five-day market held on the 2nd and 7th of every month. It is also recommended to watch the musicals "Ari Arari" and the "Raftman Performance" at the Arirang Center.

The Gangwon Tourism Organization is preparing a variety of on- and offline promotional activities to intensively promote Cheorwon and Jeongseon as the recommended travel destinations for October. Various online events will be held through the Visit Gangwon Years website (visitgw2526.kr) and the Gangwon Tourism Organization Instagram account (@gwto_official). In addition, promotional booths linked to major local events will be operated to showcase the diverse attractions of Gangwon tourism.

There are also various discount benefits available for visitors to the recommended destinations in October. In Cheorwon County, from October 1 to 30, a discount event for admission to the Cheorwon Hantangang Torch Observatory will be offered to those who issue a digital tourism resident card.

In Jeongseon County, there will be a 2,000 won discount on admission to Romizian Garden, a free Wawa-gun shopping bag for Jeongseon City Tour passengers, and special local resident rates for attractions such as Hwaam Cave, Gariwangsan Cable Car, and Bugs Land Sky Bugs VR. For more details, please visit the Visit Gangwon Years website.

Choi Sunghyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization, stated, "The Goseokjeong Flower Field in Cheorwon and Mindungsan Mountain in Jeongseon, recommended for October, are the best choices for enjoying the essence of autumn. I hope you will create precious memories with your beloved family, friends, and partners while enjoying the beautiful autumn scenery of Gangwon."
