The National Treasure Touring Exhibition was planned by the National Museum of Korea in collaboration with regional public museums starting in 2024, aiming to address cultural disparities between the Seoul metropolitan area and other regions and to provide equal opportunities for cultural enjoyment.

This exhibition, held in Samcheok, the historic city where Silla General Isabu prepared for the conquest of Usan-guk, will showcase a total of 26 Silla gold ornaments, including the National Treasure "Gold Earrings from the Hapjang Tomb in Bomun-dong" and the Treasure "Cheonmachong Burial Accessory."

First, the "Gold Earrings from the Hapjang Tomb in Bomun-dong" are a masterpiece representing Silla's golden culture, highly praised by Ko Yuseop, Korea's first aesthetician and art historian, as the most beautiful gold earrings in the world. These earrings are a culmination of Silla goldsmithing, featuring hundreds of tiny gold granules less than 0.5 mm in diameter and thin gold threads arranged in a turtle shell pattern, with delicate floral motifs inside. They were designated as a National Treasure in 1962, the first earrings to receive this status.

Next, the "Cheonmachong Burial Accessory" is a lavish piece crafted by piercing a V-shaped gold plate to create a dragon pattern and hanging over 400 round gold pendants with gold thread. This artifact drew global attention earlier this year when it was reinterpreted in a modern style in Jennie's "ZEN" music video.

Most of the artifacts on display are representative cultural heritages of Korea, featured in middle and high school history textbooks, and were previously only accessible by traveling to Seoul. This exhibition offers a valuable opportunity to view these National Treasures and Treasures at a local museum in your own neighborhood.

A museum official stated, "It is deeply meaningful that the National Treasure Touring Exhibition 'Golden Allure: Silla Ornaments' is being held in Samcheok, where General Isabu of Silla prepared for the conquest of Usan-guk," and added, "We hope that the dazzling Silla gold treasures will leave a precious memory in the hearts of Samcheok citizens."
