Reducing Fear of Hospitals
Raising Awareness of the Role in Health Protection
Busan Himchan Hospital announced on September 22 that it had conducted a hospital tour program on September 19 for about 100 children from public daycare centers in Dongnae-gu, aiming to reduce their fear of hospitals and strengthen disease prevention education.
This tour included a variety of hands-on activities such as an introduction to hospital work, handwashing education for infection prevention, an introduction to and experience of physical therapy, trying on a doctor's gown, and riding in an ambulance.
Song Kyungsun, head nurse, stated, "This tour is meaningful in that it helps children recognize that a hospital is not just a place for treating diseases, but also a place for maintaining health. I hope this becomes an opportunity for children, who are the future leaders, to understand healthcare professionals and feel more comfortable with them."
Busan Himchan Hospital has signed a business agreement with 35 public daycare centers in Dongnae-gu and plans to continue running the hospital tour program annually to protect and promote the health of children and their families.
