Chuseok and APEC Summit as Opportunities
Nationwide Environmental Cleanup Campaign
On September 22, Yeongyang County in North Gyeongsang Province, led by County Governor Oh Dochang, conducted environmental cleanup activities in the Hyunri area of Yeongyang-eup. Over 150 members from local civic organizations, including the Yeongyang County Saemaeul Association and the Yeongyang County Council for the Movement for a Better Life, participated in the event to celebrate the "New Beginning for the Republic of Korea" week.

This initiative was carried out as a joint public-private environmental cleanup effort, in connection with the government's ongoing "New Beginning for the Republic of Korea" campaign, ahead of the Chuseok holiday and the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
Participants in the campaign collected trash around frequently visited areas such as the vicinity of Hyeondonggyo Bridge, Slow Life Park, and locations notorious for illegal dumping. These efforts aimed to ensure that returning visitors could spend the Chuseok holiday in their hometown in a clean and pleasant environment.
Starting with the "New Beginning for the Republic of Korea" campaign in the Hyunri area on this day, Yeongyang County plans to continue environmental cleanup activities targeting parks, tourist attractions, and multi-use facilities-places frequently visited by returning residents-until October 2, in preparation for Chuseok.
County Governor Oh Dochang expressed his gratitude to the civic organizations that participated in the "New Beginning for the Republic of Korea" campaign, stating, "I am pleased that, through these environmental cleanup activities, both residents and returning visitors will be able to celebrate Chuseok in a pleasant environment. We will continue to work towards creating a clean and comfortable urban environment in the future."
