Ulsan Eliya Hospital Administers Flu Vaccinations to All Staff for Patient Safety

Ulsan Eliya Hospital will administer flu vaccinations to all staff starting from September 22, 2025.

To prepare for the annual influenza (flu) season that begins every fall, Ulsan Eliya Hospital conducts advance flu vaccinations for all staff each year. This is done to protect the health of both customers-including patients, caregivers, and visitors-and employees in a work environment with frequent face-to-face interactions, and to provide a safe hospital environment for patients who are vulnerable to infection due to weakened immunity.

The hospital also assigns dedicated health managers to ensure thorough employee health activities, and remains constantly prepared for health and safety threats to both staff and customers that may arise not only from the flu but also from various other situations.

Jung Younghwan, Director of Ulsan Eliya Hospital, stated, "As we experienced during the global COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals play a crucial role as the safest treatment spaces against infections and viruses. Through this flu vaccination program for all staff, we aim to provide a safer medical environment for our patients and protect the health of both employees and customers from infectious diseases such as influenza and COVID-19."

This year, Ulsan Eliya Hospital is using a trivalent vaccine for the staff flu vaccinations. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Immunization Advisory Committee have recommended trivalent vaccines starting this year, as the B/Yamagata virus antigen has not been detected globally for over five years. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency also explained that the trivalent vaccine does not affect the efficacy or safety of flu prevention.
