Proactive Measures to Prevent Environmental Pollution at Emission Facilities
Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province will conduct special monitoring and inspections from September 23 to October 14, 2025, to prevent environmental pollution that may occur during the Chuseok holiday period.
This special monitoring will be carried out in three phases: before, during, and after the Chuseok holiday. Prior to the holiday, the city will raise business operators' awareness of voluntary environmental management through advance publicity and administrative guidance, while also conducting intensive inspections of vulnerable areas.
To this end, the city will send cooperation letters for voluntary inspections to 1,256 locations and strengthen on-site monitoring and inspections of about 40 businesses in environmentally vulnerable areas, focusing on facilities that generate high-concentration wastewater, businesses with repeated violations, businesses located near rivers, and areas with a high concentration of factories.
During the Chuseok holiday, each district office will operate a situation room and a '24-hour environmental pollution reporting hotline.' At the same time, patrols of vulnerable areas and rivers will be strengthened to enable a proactive response to environmental pollution incidents.
After the holiday, from October 10 to 14, the city plans to provide customized technical support to businesses, focusing on those that are vulnerable to environmental pollution, have experienced problems, or are small-scale enterprises.
Ryu Yujeong, Director of the Climate and Environment Bureau, stated, "Since the Chuseok holiday period is a time when environmental accidents are more likely to occur, we will ensure a safe holiday for citizens through thorough pre-inspections and a prompt response system."
