Embracing Nature and Culture
Promoting Hiking Culture and Revitalizing the Local Community
The hiking festival "Eider Hikers Day," hosted by the outdoor brand Eider, will be held on the renowned luxury coastal trail, Yeongdeok Blue Road, from September 25 to 28.
This event, now in its third year, aims to promote hiking culture and is recognized as one of Korea's leading hiking festivals. Over four days and three nights of long-distance trekking, participants can enjoy the beauty of nature and the joys of hiking. The festival drew significant attention, with more than 1,400 concurrent users attempting to register as soon as tickets opened.
The festival is divided into two courses: a four-day, three-night trek covering 60 kilometers, and a three-day, two-night trek covering 50 kilometers. Despite the event's expanded scale compared to last year, all 100 and 200 participant spots for each course were quickly filled, demonstrating the event's high popularity.
The four-day, three-night course, which covers the entire Blue Road, begins on the 25th at Ganggu Haepalang Park. On the second day, hikers will reach Wind Hill, home to a wind farm, as well as Haemaji Park and Gyeongjeong-ri Coast, both designated as UNESCO Global Geoparks. On the third day, the route passes through Gwaesi-ri Traditional Village and Gwanoedae before arriving at Goraebul National Campground. On the final day, September 28, participants will walk the "Blue Ending" section along the Goraebul Coast, marking the end of the journey.
Content related to the festival is also drawing attention. The first filming of the Eider YouTube entertainment series "Eider Chalet Season 2" will take place in Yeongdeok County, with host Ppani Bottle and singer Kwon Eunbi set to showcase the vibrant atmosphere of the event on site.
Yeongdeok County hopes that this year's "Eider Hikers Day" will establish itself as a "cultural walking" event that allows participants to experience the region's nature and culture, thereby contributing to the spread of a sustainable outdoor culture.
County Governor Kim Kwangyeol stated, "I hope this festival, where visitors can fully enjoy Yeongdeok's beautiful sea and pristine nature, will create unforgettable memories for hikers nationwide and serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local community. As a municipality with the luxury trekking course Blue Road, we will continue to support the development of a sustainable outdoor culture that respects nature and culture and grows together with the local community."
