Gangneung City in Gangwon Province conducted immediate water quality testing at the Water Quality Verification Committee and the emergency discharge outlet on September 20, following the start of emergency discharge from Doam Dam.

The water quality tests covered eight items that could be measured on the same day, including pH, dissolved oxygen, and total organic carbon. The city released the results for seven items, excluding total coliforms, which require a 24-hour incubation period.
The test results for the discharged water showed similar outcomes to those previously conducted by the Ministry of Environment and Gangneung City, indicating that there should be no significant issues with water purification at Gangneung City's water treatment plant.
A Gangneung City official stated, "We will release the emergency discharge water quality test results on the Gangneung City Hall website and alleviate citizens' concerns about the water quality of Doam Dam through strict daily monitoring."
