According to the district on the 19th, the forum was held under the theme "How to Design and Realize a Future Inclusive City," bringing together around 60 participants, including eight heads of local governments, from 11 basic local governments nationwide.
In his presentation, Seo-gu Mayor Lee Ikang introduced urban policies from Vienna, Austria and Prague, Czech Republic, which are recognized as advanced cases of inclusive welfare, and compared them to Seo-gu’s own policies for children, housing, and socially disadvantaged groups. He emphasized the need for a paradigm shift in urban policy.
In particular, he introduced Seo-gu’s innovative policies, such as space design reflecting gender perspectives, the establishment of smart playgrounds, and an integrated care system based on community hubs. He stressed that a city where care and consideration are part of everyday life is the answer to a sustainable and inclusive future city, which was met with a strong positive response.
Mayor Lee Ikang stated, "The inclusive city that Seo-gu aspires to is a world where coexistence and mutual growth through consideration become the norm," and added, "We will realize a virtuous city where everyone is respected and lives equally by designing all policies-from technology and care to safety, housing, and education-with people at the center."
Meanwhile, the forum began with a keynote speech by Professor Kang Beomjun of Seoul National University, followed by presentations of policy cases by public interest organizations, cultural foundations, and heads of local governments. Through a comprehensive discussion and a field visit to Seongdong-gu’s inclusive policy sites, participants explored the potential for implementing action-oriented administrative philosophies and regionally tailored policies.
