Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on September 19 that it will host the "3rd Gokseong National Cooking Contest 2025" at the Central Plaza of Seomjingang Train Village on September 27, as part of its efforts to develop K-Food cuisine and nurture future talent. This event will be held jointly with the "3rd Jeollanam-do Superintendent's Cup Student Cooking & Baking Contest," organized by the Jeollanam-do Office of Education.

Earlier, as part of a pilot project for an educational development special zone and in connection with a youth startup support program, the county accepted applications for the cooking contest under the theme "Youth Flavor Competition: Young Chefs, Embracing Gokseong," targeting all citizens including young people. Preliminary rounds were held earlier this month, and a total of 10 teams (20 participants) have been selected to compete in the finals on September 27.

The final round will be judged by three experts, including a renowned chef who graduated from Jeonnam Culinary Science High School. The evaluation will comprehensively consider creativity, completeness, regional characteristics, and the potential for business startup connections.

A variety of side events are also planned, including a talk concert with a star chef, the "Meat Master & Barbecue Master Performance" featuring two whole pigs, food carving, a non-alcoholic cocktail festival, a rice puff (Oranda) making experience with local rice, and commemorative photo sessions at the "Life Four Cuts" photo booth, offering visitors a unique array of experiences.

In addition, a special event will be held for all participants and visitors, with local specialty rice Baeksemi and 1 gram of gold given away as prizes through a raffle.

A county official stated, "We expect this contest to serve as an opportunity to enhance the competitiveness of K-Food culinary culture by combining the value of Gokseong's agricultural products with creative culinary ideas from young people and by nurturing future talent."

Meanwhile, the jointly held "3rd Jeollanam-do Superintendent's Cup Student Cooking & Baking Contest" will feature 30 teams (60 participants) competing in a live cooking contest from 11 a.m., showcasing their potential as the next generation leaders of K-Food.
