Incheon City has decided to strengthen cooperation with the State of Alaska in the fields of aviation and logistics, and to expand tourism exchanges.
A delegation led by Julie Sandy, Secretary of Commerce for the State of Alaska, visited Hwang Hyojin, Deputy Mayor for Global City Affairs of Incheon, on the 19th to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two regions.
The two sides specifically exchanged views on linking the cargo terminal and cold chain infrastructure at Incheon International Airport with Alaska's aviation network. They also held in-depth discussions on processing and re-exporting Alaskan seafood through Incheon Port, as well as expanding exchanges in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry.

Deputy Mayor Hwang stated, "As the gateway city of South Korea, Incheon is growing into an international logistics hub based on Incheon International Airport and Incheon Port. I hope this visit by the Alaska delegation will serve as a starting point for practical cooperation."
In response, Secretary Sandy said, "Ahead of next year's 40th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Incheon and Anchorage, let's further expand cooperation in the fields of aviation, logistics, and tourism." Incheon and Anchorage, Alaska, have maintained a friendly relationship for 39 years since establishing their sister city partnership in 1986.
Following their visit to Incheon City Hall, the Alaska delegation toured the Incheon Free Economic Zone Promotion Center in Songdo International City, the Incheon New Port container terminal, and the Incheon International Airport cargo terminal.
