Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyunil) has solidified its position as a hub of startup innovation by successfully hosting the largest-ever "2025 Gyeongbuk Startup Investment Matching Day" in North Gyeongsang Province.
This event, hosted by North Gyeongsang Province and organized by the Gyeongbuk Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, was held over two days, September 17 and 18, at the Cheonma Art Center of Yeungnam University.
The "Gyeongbuk Startup Investment Matching Day," now in its seventh year, featured participation from 118 startups in the province, 30 investment companies including startup accelerators and venture capital firms from both the Seoul metropolitan area and the region, as well as 11 local innovation organizations, making it the largest event of its kind to date.
Notably, 30 startups from Gyeongsan, the host city, showcased their innovative technologies and business ideas, capturing the attention of investors and adding vibrancy to the event.
During the event, consultation booths operated by investment firms and local innovation organizations provided practical support to startups. In addition, meetups with six large and medium-sized enterprises and seven financial institutions created opportunities for business collaboration, contributing to the growth momentum of local startups.
Various IR (Investor Relations) events, including IR auditions and startup IR competitions, were also held as side events. These activities enhanced the investment attraction capabilities of local startups and provided investors with opportunities to discover promising companies.
The main event on September 18 featured the "North Gyeongsang Province Startup Innovation Award" ceremony and an investment commitment ceremony.
Among the ten companies in the province recognized for the Startup Innovation Award, two companies from Gyeongsan-RO Logistics Co., Ltd. and Biotech Co., Ltd.-were honored as award recipients.
In the investment commitment ceremony, four out of six participating companies were based in Gyeongsan (The Sunhan Co., Ltd., S-Med Co., Ltd., Bright Co., Ltd., and Iyoung Co., Ltd.), further elevating the status of the host city.
Mayor Cho Hyunil of Gyeongsan City stated, "I am delighted that the Gyeongbuk Startup Investment Matching Day, held in our city this year, concluded successfully. I hope that hosting this event will serve as an opportunity to further solidify Gyeongsan's position as a center of startup innovation."
