The Korea Local Autonomy Management Awards is a prestigious annual competition designed to discover and share creative and exemplary policies from local governments across the country. This year, fierce competition took place in five different categories.
The city was honored with the award in the “Regional Vitality Enhancement” category, with its “Goyang Customized Job School” project selected as an outstanding policy initiative.
This project aims to connect education and employment through customized vocational training tailored to the local industrial structure, thereby revitalizing local employment. It was particularly highly regarded for going beyond simple vocational education and establishing an employment-linked model in which businesses, local governments, and employment-related organizations work together organically.
In addition, vocational training programs such as the Hotel Room Coordinator Training Course and the Logistics Field Practitioner Training Course have successfully encouraged the economic participation of various groups, including middle-aged individuals and women with career interruptions.
This year, the city is operating the Integrated Building Management Specialist Training Course, the Logistics Field Practitioner Training Course, and the Freight Transportation Logistics Specialist Training Course, all of which continue to attract strong interest from local residents.
Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, stated, “This award is a testament to the effectiveness of Goyang’s job creation policies being recognized externally. Moving forward, we will continue to lead in job creation and local economic revitalization through cooperation between the local community and businesses.”
