According to Seo-gu on September 18, the Korea Cultural Value Awards honor local governments that have contributed to improving residents' quality of life and expanding cultural opportunities for the community through distinctive and outstanding cultural and tourism policies.
Previously, Seo-gu received high marks for its successful hosting of the Gwangju Seochang Eulalia Festival since 2015, offering residents a sustainable, eco-friendly, scenic cultural and arts festival along the Yeongsan River in the heart of the city.
Seo-gu has contributed to the revitalization of local culture through a variety of differentiated policies and projects in culture, arts, and sports, including: ▲ busking and healing concerts in the city to realize the everyday presence of culture ▲ high-quality planned performances and resident participation programs at the Seobitmaru Culture and Arts Center ▲ the revitalization of the Bitgoeul Gugak Training Center to inherit and develop traditional culture ▲ and Seo-gu-style community sports classes with sports stars.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, stated, "This recognition is the result of the positive evaluation of the diverse cultural and arts policies promoted by Seo-gu to expand opportunities for residents to enjoy happy leisure lives and fulfill their cultural needs," adding, "We will continue to do our best to further enhance the cultural prestige of our district."
