Busan City, led by Mayor Park Hyungjoon, announced on September 18 that it held the "2025 Central Asia Busan Study Abroad Fair" in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Almaty, Kazakhstan, from September 12 to 16.

This event was organized as part of Busan City's international student recruitment strategy, the "Study Busan 30K Project." The city promoted the advantages of studying in Busan to students, parents, and education officials in Central Asia, expanding its foundation for cooperation. Mongolia and Kazakhstan have recently seen an increase in demand for studying in Korea and are cities that have established friendly relations with Busan.

In Ulaanbaatar, officials visited a local integrated school for elementary, middle, and high school students on September 12 and held the study abroad fair on September 13. The opening ceremony featured traditional performances from both Korea and Mongolia, and included one-on-one admission counseling, a Busan promotional booth, information on the metropolitan visa system, and prize events. More than 400 Mongolian students participated.

Hwang Seokchil, Director of the Eurasia City Diplomacy Division, stated, "I hope that Busan and Mongolia will cooperate closely not only in cultural exchange but also in education, so that many global talents will come to Busan."

In Almaty, on September 15, officials visited the Korean Education Center and an international school to assess local demand for studying abroad, and on September 16, held the fair at the outdoor plaza of Abai National Pedagogical University. The event drew more than 1,000 students, and city officials and local university representatives discussed cooperation measures such as joint degree programs, faculty exchanges, and student exchange programs.

Busan City aims to use this fair as an opportunity to disperse the study abroad demand concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area and to enhance the international competitiveness of universities in Busan. The city plans to establish cooperative models with Central Asian educational institutions to expand Busan's global education network.

Kim Guiok, Director of the Youth-Industry-Academia Bureau of Busan City, emphasized, "Mongolia and Kazakhstan are regions where demand for studying in Busan has been rapidly increasing. Through this fair, we will promote Busan's appeal and actively support more international students in choosing Busan."
