Notably, this event will be organized with a total budget of 2 billion won (1 billion won in national funding and 1 billion won in local funding). It will be operated as an urban comprehensive cultural festival that combines maritime and island culture, patriotic history, and K-culture.

Mayor Jung Kimyung stated, "We aim to realize a 'culture in everyday life' where citizens are the main protagonists, and by holding the Month of Culture event during the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, we will invigorate the local economy through immersive cultural content." He added, "We expect this will elevate the status of Yeosu's cultural brand among domestic and international visitors and serve as an opportunity to continuously strengthen our cultural competitiveness."

Meanwhile, the "Month of Culture" event has been promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism since 2003, designating every October as the Month of Culture and the third Saturday of October as the Day of Culture, in order to expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment and encourage participation in cultural activities.
