On September 16, Wu Menglong's agency posted a message from his mother on its official social media account. His mother stated, "My beloved son passed away in an accident after falling from a building while under the influence of alcohol," and added, "Our family is in deep sorrow due to this sudden tragedy."

She continued, "The police investigation has concluded and all funeral procedures have been completed," and appealed, "We sincerely ask everyone to view this incident rationally and refrain from any further speculation."

She also added, "I hope to return to a peaceful daily life, cherishing the precious memories I have with my son. I believe this is what my son would have wanted."

The news of Wu Menglong's passing was first reported on September 11. That morning, he fell from an apartment building in Chaoyang District, Beijing, and died at the age of 37.

According to local media reports, the previous evening he had dinner with acquaintances at a friend's house and then went to rest in a bedroom around 2 a.m. On the morning of the 11th, at approximately 6 a.m., his friends, who were leaving the apartment, noticed he was missing and later found his body on a lower floor.

At the time, his agency announced his death and released an official statement saying, "The police investigation found no evidence of foul play."

However, various rumors spread online, with some alleging that the friends who were with him at the time were involved in his death. In response, one Chinese actor declared that he was not present at the scene and announced plans to take legal action against baseless and malicious speculation.

Wu Menglong, born in 1988, debuted through an audition program in 2013 and gained widespread popularity for his roles in dramas such as "Go Princess Go" and "Eternal Love." In particular, "Eternal Love" became widely known to Korean viewers through Netflix and Tving. He had about 26 million followers on social media and was set to appear in three upcoming projects, including "Chang Ya Xing."
