Since September 1, water transportation has been underway, delivering raw water from nine rivers in Gangneung, including Yeongokcheon and Sacheoncheon, as well as from Namdaecheon in Yangyang County to the Obong Reservoir. In addition, treated water is being transported from the Yeongok fire hydrant and nearby city and county hydrants to the Hongje Water Purification Plant.
So far, 58 water supply vehicles from 14 cities and counties have been deployed, supplying more than 700 tons of water per day and over 9,000 tons in total. Currently, each city and county is working to provide five additional vehicles, and if all participate, it is expected that approximately 1,074 tons of water can be supplied daily.
Yeo Junghyup, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Gangwon Province, said, "I deeply appreciate the active cooperation of cities and counties in supporting water supply vehicles," and added, "We ask for the interest and support of all residents so that we can overcome the drought as soon as possible."
