Full-Scale Launch of International Joint Research and Academic Exchange
National Pukyong University (President Bae Sanghoon) and National Taiwan Ocean University (President Hsu Tai-Wen) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to strengthen research collaboration in the fields of natural sciences and fisheries science.
The College of Natural Sciences and the College of Fisheries Science at National Pukyong University each signed agreements with the College of Life Sciences and the College of Marine Resources Science at National Taiwan Ocean University on September 11, 2025, agreeing to initiate joint research and academic exchange in earnest.
The event was attended by professors Kim Joungho, Kim Hyunwoo, and Choi Junghwa from National Pukyong University, as well as Vice President Nan Panhua, Director of International Affairs Pan Jiaming, and Distinguished Professor Wu Jinlie from National Taiwan Ocean University.
After the signing ceremony, representatives from both universities held a special lecture on the topic of "Monitoring the Impact of Marine Warming on Kuroshio Current Biological Resources Using Environmental DNA (eDNA)" and shared the latest research achievements in fisheries and marine science. They also discussed detailed research methods utilizing environmental DNA sampling, molecular identification, and analytical technologies.
This MOA was made possible through the internationalization program of the G-LAMP Project Group at National Pukyong University, led by Director Kim Youngseok. The project group is actively promoting collaborative research with domestic and international research institutions and will continue to build a global research network to advance water circulation studies and the development of marine and fisheries science.
On the same day, Choi Junghwa, a professor at National Pukyong University and president of the Korean Society of Fisheries Science, and Nan Panhua, vice president of National Taiwan Ocean University and president of the Taiwan Fisheries Society, signed an agreement between the two societies to expand international programs and further strengthen cooperation.
