3.5 Billion Euros Raised for Macquarie Asset Management's European Infrastructure Debt Fund

1.2 Billion Euros Raised for Fund,
2.3 Billion Euros Secured for SMA

A total of 3.5 billion euros (approximately 5.73 trillion won) has been raised for Macquarie Asset Management Group's European infrastructure debt fund.

On September 17, Macquarie Asset Management announced that it had completed the final fundraising for the Macquarie European Infrastructure Debt Fund (MEID) by securing 1.2 billion euros. In addition to the fund, a further 2.3 billion euros was raised for separately managed accounts (SMA).

MEID is Macquarie's first European infrastructure debt fund. It consists of 24 European infrastructure debt investments, and more than 80% of the capital had already been invested at the time fundraising was completed. The investment sectors include renewable energy (solar and wind), digital (fiber optics and data centers), transportation and related assets (roads, railways, ferries, highway services), and other energy assets. Unlike the fund, SMAs allow investors to set specific guidelines for returns, fees, and management style, enabling capital to be managed according to their individual requirements.

Macquarie emphasized that this demonstrates institutional investors' growing interest in infrastructure debt. Infrastructure debt is recognized as a way to diversify portfolios and as an inflation hedge, providing more stable cash flows compared to corporate loans.

Macquarie Asset Management's credit and insurance platform is comprised of approximately 200 investment professionals worldwide. It manages over 200 billion euros in client assets across liquid credit, private credit, and insurance. Since its inception, the firm has invested approximately 12.5 billion euros in infrastructure debt.

Tom Van Rijswijk, Head of Infrastructure and Investment Grade Private Credit for EMEA at Macquarie Asset Management Group, said, "As market volatility has increased recently, there is a growing demand from institutional investors for diversified portfolios that can provide stable long-term returns and for asset managers with deep expertise in these asset classes. I would like to sincerely thank all investors for placing their trust in Macquarie Asset Management Group."
