According to political sources on the 16th, the ruling and opposition parties have tentatively agreed to start the regular session National Assembly audit on October 13, immediately after the Chuseok holiday.
Initially, the People Power Party sought to start the audit before Chuseok in order to set the agenda for public opinion during the holiday period. However, this plan fell through due to opposition from the Democratic Party of Korea.
Among the standing committees, the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee was the only one to hold a plenary meeting on this day and finalize its audit schedule. This was necessary because the schedule for audits of overseas missions must be arranged in advance.
The domestic audit by the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee will begin on October 13, starting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Overseas Koreans Agency, and affiliated organizations. On the following day, October 14, the audit will cover the Ministry of Unification and the Secretary General of the National Unification Advisory Council, with a comprehensive audit scheduled for October 28.
The audit of overseas diplomatic missions will be divided into Asia-Pacific, Americas, and Europe groups, covering a total of 32 missions.
