Yeongdeok County Dementia Relief Center Wins Minister of Health and Welfare Award

Recognized for Excellence in Dementia Prevention and Management
Ranked in the Top 10% Among County-Level Institutions with an 'A Grade'

The Yeongdeok County Dementia Relief Center in North Gyeongsang Province was awarded the Minister of Health and Welfare Award after being selected as an 'A grade' institution in the second cycle evaluation of dementia relief center operations, organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

This evaluation system, conducted under the 4th Comprehensive Dementia Management Plan, aims to improve the operational efficiency and service quality of dementia relief centers. The assessment targeted 126 dementia relief centers nationwide and evaluated three main indicators: the establishment of dementia infrastructure, provision and management of dementia services, and strengthening of regional dementia capabilities. The process included on-site evaluations, written assessments, and data analysis.


The Yeongdeok County Dementia Relief Center received high marks for its dementia prevention and management efforts in the community. This was achieved through the operation of specialized programs such as cognitive enhancement classes and dementia patient shelters, provision of customized case management services, connection with community resources, and dementia awareness campaigns. As a result, the center ranked in the top 10% among county-level institutions and was awarded an A grade.


Kim Kwangyeol, the county governor, commented, "This award is a meaningful achievement that reflects the accumulated efforts and accomplishments of the Yeongdeok County Dementia Relief Center in promoting mental health and advancing dementia prevention and management for our residents. We will continue working to create an environment where dementia patients and their families can live with peace of mind."
