Held from October 17 to 19
at Sanjeong Lake and Myeongseongsan
Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) and the Pocheon Culture & Tourism Foundation announced on September 16 that the "28th Pocheon Sanjeong Lake Myeongseongsan Silver Grass Festival" will be held from October 17 to 19 at Sanjeong Lake and the surrounding Myeongseongsan area.
Myeongseongsan (elevation 923 meters) is one of the 100 most famous mountains in South Korea, boasting the largest silver grass colony in the Seoul metropolitan area, where about 150,000 square meters of silver grass create a shimmering sea of silver waves each autumn. Sanjeong Lake, known for its clear water and scenic mountains, is a designated national tourist attraction and one of Pocheon's most renowned sites.
This year's festival will feature large-scale nighttime programs in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the construction of Sanjeong Lake. The highlight of the festival is a grand water fireworks performance on the evenings of October 17 and 18, staged on Sanjeong Lake. This show will combine fireworks with the history and stories of the lake. The event will feature floating installations, dance performances, and pyrotechnics, creating a majestic stage where art and nature merge.
Nighttime programs will include a silent DJ party (Silent Disco), nighttime sculpture exhibitions, and floating lantern displays. During the day, a variety of hands-on activities and events will be available for all ages, such as pony rides, writing letters to be delivered a year later, a silver grass wish trail and playground, calligraphy experiences, and photo zones. In addition, busking performances and interactive content will be offered along the silver grass fields and hiking trails of Myeongseongsan, providing visitors with a wide range of entertainment.
The opening ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on October 17 at the Sanjeong Lake Sculpture Park, featuring a folk concert by "Travel Sketch," an opening ceremony, and celebratory performances. On October 18, Mind U (formerly Acourve) will perform, and on October 19, singer Kim Seongjun will take the stage. The Pocheon Municipal Folk Arts Troupe and local artists will also perform, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
The Pocheon Culture & Tourism Foundation has been selected for the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization's "2025 Gyeonggi-do Convergence Tourism Content Development Support Project" and will operate the "Sanjeong Republic Family Run," an event that can be enjoyed even after the festival. Running from October 18 to 31 around Sanjeong Lake, this program consists of five experiential activities: Sanjeong Mission Run, Survival Adventure, Coverage Tour, Photo Story, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) storytelling performances, offering visitors new ways to enjoy the area.
Lee Junghyo, CEO of the Pocheon Culture & Tourism Foundation, stated, "The 28th Silver Grass Festival carries the significance of the 100th anniversary of Sanjeong Lake. Through the newly introduced nighttime programs, we aim to provide visitors with a variety of experiences," adding, "We hope the Silver Grass Festival will establish itself as Pocheon's representative autumn festival."
Yang Daejong, the head of Sanjeong-ri and the festival's executive chairman, said, "Through this festival, which has been prepared together by citizens and local artists, we aim to widely promote Pocheon's nature and culture and contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
