The Pennybun Mushroom Cheese Americano is characterized by the addition of Pennybun mushroom powder, coffee, and cheese cream, topped with a mushroom-shaped Pennybun cookie. In Yunnan Province, the "wild mushroom season" takes place annually from June to September, attracting food lovers from across China who come to enjoy delicious mushrooms during this period. The most prized and expensive wild mushrooms are Pennybun mushrooms, termite mushrooms, and matsutake mushrooms.

Yunnan Province also boasts a coffee industry with a history of over 100 years. Recently, as global interest in coffee quality has risen, the region has gained attention as a specialty coffee production area.

The new coffee drinks are only available for purchase in-store. The cafe stated that 50 to 70 cups of coffee made with Pennybun mushrooms are sold daily, and many people are visiting the store specifically to try these drinks.

The taste has also received positive reviews. One visitor told the local Kunming media outlet, Metropolis Times, "I visited the cafe and tried the Pennybun Mushroom Oat Latte. I could sense a subtle mushroom aroma. It was not strange at all, and I would recommend it to my friends."

However, Forleaf Coffee noted that due to fluctuations in Pennybun mushroom prices, it is uncertain whether the mushroom coffee will continue to be sold next year. As of August, the price of Pennybun mushrooms ranged from 40 to 80 yuan (7,700 to 15,500 won) per kilogram.
