EcoBio Holdings, a leading domestic ESG energy company led by CEO Song Hyosoon, will establish a clean hydrogen supply hub facility in Yeongcheon, North Gyeongsang Province.
On September 16, EcoBio announced that it has been selected as the private sector operator for the "2025 Biogas-Based Clean Hydrogen Production Facility Installation Project," a competition organized by the Ministry of Environment.
With this selection, EcoBio will receive approximately 6.5 billion won in national funding from the Ministry of Environment and plans to invest a total of 13 billion won to install a clean hydrogen production facility capable of supplying fuel for more than 100 hydrogen vehicles per day, with a daily production capacity of 500 kg.
This project is particularly notable because it will be carried out on the same site as Yeongcheon City's public sector project, which was selected for the Ministry of Environment's public competition last year. This is expected to secure economies of scale and enhance efficiency through integrated project implementation and operation.
Once the integrated public and private sector project is launched, a facility-the largest of its kind in Korea-will be established in Yeongcheon, utilizing 8,000 cubic meters of biogas daily to produce 1,000 kg of clean hydrogen. The facility will serve as a hub, supplying clean hydrogen to more than six hydrogen refueling stations in the North Gyeongsang region.
A representative from EcoBio stated, "If the project is carried out in integration with Yeongcheon City's public sector following our selection as the private sector operator by the Ministry of Environment, the hydrogen supply system in the North Gyeongsang region will be transformed efficiently. We expect this will contribute to the activation of the hydrogen economy and the realization of a sustainable society by reducing greenhouse gas emissions."
Meanwhile, with its selection as the private sector operator for this clean hydrogen production facility project, EcoBio plans to diversify its biogas resource business and expand its scope into subsequent projects.
