Rural Leaders Take the Lead in
Resource Circulation and Environmental Protection

The Korea Rural Leaders Association Jindo County Federation and the Jindo County Agricultural Technology Center are leading efforts to manage local soil and water pollution through the collection of used pesticide containers. Provided by Jindo County.

The Jindo County Agricultural Technology Center in South Jeolla Province announced on September 15 that, in collaboration with the Korea Rural Leaders Association Jindo County Federation, it had collected approximately 8 tons of used pesticide bottles through a collection campaign.

For this campaign, members from each town and township gathered used pesticide bottles that had been left throughout rural areas, sorted them by type, and transported them to the Environmental Management Center for processing. While used pesticide bottles can be recycled, they require thorough management because if left unattended, they can contaminate soil and water.

The county explained that this campaign achieved meaningful results not only as a simple environmental cleanup effort, but also in terms of resource circulation, environmental protection, and the spread of a low-carbon lifestyle culture.

Kang Namcheol, president of the Korea Rural Leaders Association Jindo County Federation, said, "It is especially meaningful that members voluntarily participated and contributed to improving the rural environment," adding, "We will continue to carry out various activities to keep our rural areas clean."

An official from the Jindo County Agricultural Technology Center emphasized, "Collecting used pesticide bottles is an important process in practicing carbon neutrality," and added, "Together with farmers, we will do our best to promote eco-friendly agriculture and create a sustainable rural environment."
