Man in His 50s Arrested for Murdering Common-Law Partner at Geoje Golf Course After Hiding for 3 Hours

The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency announced on September 15 that it had arrested and detained a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of murder for killing a woman with whom he had been in a common-law relationship at a golf course in Geoje.

Mr. A is accused of murdering Ms. B, a woman in her 50s, at a golf course in Geoje at around 10:35 a.m. on September 5. On the day of the incident, he disguised himself as a golf course worker and approached Ms. B, who was working as a caddie, before committing the crime.

It was revealed that Mr. A entered the golf course at around 7:40 a.m. that day and waited for an opportunity for more than three hours. He entered the premises by following a walking trail used by residents of a nearby apartment complex. The police believe that he did not arouse suspicion because he was dressed as a worker.

The two had maintained a common-law relationship for several years but had been living separately since a physical assault incident in July. At that time, the police provided Ms. B with a smart watch and increased patrols around her residence.

On the day of the incident, Ms. B also had the smart watch, but due to her work conditions, she had left it in her locker.

Mr. A planned the crime after Ms. B avoided contact with him following their breakup and as conflicts arose over financial issues. After committing the crime, he attempted to harm himself but was rescued by emergency responders and discharged from the hospital on September 12.

The police plan to investigate Mr. A further regarding the specific details and circumstances of the crime.
