Cheongsong County Launches Crackdown on Illegal Livestock Products Ahead of Chuseok Holiday

Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province will conduct a special crackdown on illegal livestock products from September 15 to October 2, in anticipation of increased demand for livestock products during the Chuseok holiday season. This initiative aims to ensure that residents can purchase livestock products with peace of mind.

This crackdown is being carried out to enhance consumer trust in livestock products and to proactively block the distribution of illegal or substandard livestock products.

The inspection will target 76 livestock product retailers within the county. Key inspection items include: ▲ whether products past their expiration date are being sold ▲ whether frozen meat is being disguised and sold as chilled meat ▲ whether products are handled hygienically ▲ and whether the livestock traceability system is being properly implemented.

Minor violations discovered during the inspection will be immediately corrected or addressed on site, while serious violations will be subject to legal action in accordance with relevant laws.

County Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "This crackdown is not a one-time measure for the holiday season, but part of ongoing efforts to eradicate the distribution of illegal and substandard livestock products so that residents can consume livestock products with confidence." He also urged livestock product retailers to actively cooperate in ensuring the hygienic and safe distribution of livestock products.
