Heat Wave Advisories Expected for Some Central Regions

On Monday, the 15th, the weather is expected to become somewhat warmer as the country falls under the influence of a high-pressure system moving eastward over the West Sea. The morning low temperatures are forecast to range from 19 to 24 degrees Celsius, while the daytime highs are expected to reach between 28 and 32 degrees Celsius.

The expected minimum and maximum temperatures for major cities are as follows: Seoul, 22 and 30 degrees; Incheon, 22 and 29 degrees; Daejeon, 21 and 31 degrees; Gwangju and Ulsan, 22 and 30 degrees; Daegu, 22 and 32 degrees; and Busan, 24 and 30 degrees.

Currently, heat wave advisories have been issued for coastal areas of Jeju and parts of South Jeolla and South Gyeongsang provinces. On the 15th, some areas in central regions are also expected to come under heat wave advisories. A heat wave advisory is issued when the highest perceived temperature is expected to remain at or above 33 degrees Celsius for more than two consecutive days. Tropical nights are also expected along the coasts of Jeju, the West Sea, and the South Sea.

During the day, ozone levels are expected to be high in most regions. The National Institute of Environmental Research forecasts that, except for Gangwon, Gwangju, Daegu, and Jeju, ozone concentrations nationwide will reach the "bad" level on the 15th.

Jeju is expected to see occasional rain on the 15th. South Jeolla may experience intermittent rain until the afternoon, while South Gyeongsang is expected to have sporadic rain from morning through afternoon. The expected precipitation is 10 to 50 millimeters for Jeju, 5 to 20 millimeters for the South Jeolla coast, around 5 millimeters for Gwangju and inland South Jeolla, and less than 5 millimeters for South Gyeongsang, indicating that, except for Jeju, rainfall amounts will not be significant.
