Seo-gu District in Gwangju invited elementary school students and their parents from Chipyeong-dong to a large-scale event designed to foster communication and connection.

On the 13th, Seo-gu hosted the 2025 Gamtan Village Elementary School Joint Sports Day, titled "Gather Together, Gyeun-Chi," at the Sangmu National Sports Center. The event brought together around 300 participants, including students and parents from Gyesu, Uncheon, and Chipyeong Elementary Schools.

This sports day was jointly organized by the Chipyeong-dong Residents' Association and Viva Chipyeong, with the aim of transcending boundaries between schools and generations, and sharing the values of cooperation and unity within the village community. The event was planned to reflect youth-related topics proposed at the Chipyeong-dong Residents’ General Assembly.

The program was designed for the whole family to participate and enjoy together. The venue featured play booths such as air slides and air bouncers for preschool children. The event began with a pledge by student and parent representatives and warm-up exercises, followed by cheering competitions between the blue and red teams, tug-of-war, and games involving parents. In addition, a youth performance team made up of students from Gyesu, Uncheon, and Chipyeong Elementary Schools took the stage to deliver a variety of cultural performances, further energizing the atmosphere.

Parents who participated in the sports day commented, "Running and cheering together with my child made us feel closer than usual," and, "It was a special experience to be part of an event that goes beyond the school and involves the entire community." One student shared, "It was really exciting to play and cheer with friends from other schools," expressing their joy.

Kim Ikang, mayor of Seo-gu, stated, "The Gamtan Village Joint Sports Day is a meaningful festival where children run, laugh, and grow together," adding, "We will continue to actively support a variety of programs that bring together residents, schools, and the community."
