Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital received the Excellence Award at the "2025 Saessak Guardian Hospital Best Practices Contest" organized by the National Center for the Rights of the Child on September 10.

According to the hospital on September 12, the contest was held to discover and share medical support and cooperation cases for the prevention of child abuse and support for abused children among 17 metropolitan Saessak Guardian Hospitals nationwide. Among them, Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital was awarded the Excellence Award.

The hospital was highly praised for its initiative titled "Breaking the Vicious Cycle Towards a Hopeful Future: Supporting the Recovery of Daily Life for Families of Children at Risk of Re-abuse."

In particular, it was recognized as an exemplary case for providing family recovery support aimed at eliminating the root causes of child abuse through support for abused children and education for their guardians. The award-winning case will be distributed to approximately 400 metropolitan and local Saessak Guardian Hospitals and related organizations nationwide.

Lee Byungguk, Chair of the Child Protection Committee at Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital, stated, "We provided expert consultation and comprehensive resource linkage for children at risk of repeated abuse in affected families," adding, "We will continue to do our best to protect and support children who are victims of abuse in the Sejong region."

Previously, in February of last year, the hospital was designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as the Sejong Metropolitan Specialized Medical Institution for Child Abuse (Saessak Guardian Hospital). It serves as a hub for child abuse prevention by providing advanced medical support and consultation for child abuse cases in collaboration with local agencies, establishing cooperative systems among medical institutions, offering customized education, facilitating early detection and protection of suspected abused children, supporting their physical and psychological recovery, and providing treatment and protection for abused children.
