Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on September 12 that it held a conference on September 5 at Shilla Stay Seobusan in Gangseo-gu, Busan, to establish the vision and innovation strategy for the 'Glocal University 30' profit-type integrated industrial complex (Integrated Industrial Complex).
The event was attended by 34 officials from the Glocal Consortium Universities of Dong-A University and Dongseo University. They shared information on the operation status of the Integrated Industrial Complex and the Industry-Academia-Research Consortium Institute, annual plans and quantitative indicators, as well as legal reviews and regulatory reform tasks. The conference was particularly significant as it was held after the launch of the 'Integrated Industrial Complex Establishment Promotion Committee' in January, marking the start of full-scale establishment of the profit-type integrated industrial complex through the recruitment of professional managers and organizational structuring.
The conference consisted of four sessions: organizational design, business model, financial virtuous cycle and performance dissemination, and field campus-centered industry-academia-research R&D innovation. In addition, key strategies for the second year of Glocal University 30, including the promotion of international joint research and the mid- to long-term roadmap, were shared.
In the hydrogen sector, a specialized field of 'energy tech,' the High-Performance Valve Technology Support Center at Dong-A University is collaborating with the S2i Center under the Steinbeis Foundation in Germany to promote international joint research through Horizon Europe. Based on this, the university plans to expand cooperation into other specialized fields such as human care and cultural content, aiming to increase industry-academia cooperation revenue.
Kim Sungjae, Head of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation (Vice President) at Dong-A University, stated, "This conference aims to enhance execution and maximize collaboration by sharing the current status and future plans for the project. To move beyond dependence on tuition fees and establish a stable revenue structure, we will conduct financial diagnostics for each center in cooperation with external accounting firms. Centers with growth potential will receive focused support, while those with limitations will be boldly restructured."
Lee Jin, Head of the RISE Project Promotion Team at Dong-A University, said, "We will strategically link Glocal University 30 and the RISE Project to generate synergy rather than overlap. Although the Glocal project budget was not secured as much as expected this year, we are prioritizing the RISE budget to enhance research environments in specialized fields such as hydrogen and bio. Through this, the two universities will secure core intellectual property to share, leading to global joint research and increased industry-academia cooperation revenue."
