On September 12, Vinattech, a company specializing in eco-friendly energy storage systems, announced that it had signed a supply contract with Doosan Mobility Innovation for membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) to be used in hydrogen fuel cells for buildings. Through this contract, Vinattech has secured its position in the domestic building fuel cell market by applying its MEA to all three major markets, effectively dominating the sector.
This supply agreement establishes a long-term partnership in which Vinattech will reliably provide MEA, a core component, for Doosan Mobility Innovation's building fuel cell systems. The significance lies in the establishment of a full-fledged cooperative system with a leading domestic fuel cell system company. It is also expected to contribute to the localization and technological self-sufficiency of key components for hydrogen fuel cells.
Vinattech is the only company globally with an integrated production system for core fuel cell materials and components, including substrates, catalysts, MEA, and separators. The company possesses unrivaled technology that ensures both cost competitiveness and quality stability. Its high-power, high-durability MEA characteristics have also been recognized by leading overseas companies.
Vinattech is the only company in Korea to continuously secure global references in the hydrogen fuel cell sector. The company is also actively expanding overseas, having recently signed MEA supply contracts with a German aircraft engine manufacturer and a French building fuel cell company.
In addition to building fuel cells, the company is further strengthening its global competitiveness in the hydrogen fuel cell business by applying its technology to various applications such as ships, automobiles, and aircraft in collaboration with major international companies. Leveraging its technological monopoly as the only company in the world with integrated production of core fuel cell materials and components, Vinattech has secured an early lead in the building fuel cell market. The establishment of a strategic partnership with a leading domestic fuel cell company through this contract is also seen as a positive development.
A company representative stated, "We expect to improve profitability by securing a stable revenue base and increasing the proportion of high value-added products," adding, "We also anticipate a valuation rerating effect through the expansion of our fuel cell business. Above all, considering that the hydrogen industry is still in its early stages, we look forward to mid- to long-term growth driven by the spread of the hydrogen economy."
Through this MEA supply contract with Doosan Mobility Innovation, Vinattech is further solidifying its position as a key partner in the domestic hydrogen economy ecosystem. The company also plans to do its utmost to enhance shareholder value through continuous technological innovation and market expansion.
