About 30 people attended the ceremony, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yooncheol, Imsil County Governor Shim Min, National Pension Service Chairman Kim Taehyun, Jeonbuk Province Governor Kim Kwanyoung, senior officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the National Pension Service, as well as representatives of local residents.
This agreement was pursued as a follow-up measure to the "Win-Win Consumption Promotion Plan for Revitalizing Local Areas," which was established at the first economic ministers' meeting after the launch of the government based on national sovereignty.
This new approach, in which the central government, local governments, and public institutions cooperate for local revitalization, is expected to create synergy effects, such as spreading momentum for consumption recovery and activating exchanges.
Through the agreement ceremony, the three institutions agreed on various tasks, including mutual exchange and cooperation to vitalize the local economy, culture, and tourism sectors, as well as information sharing to promote regional development and enhance welfare for residents and employees.
In addition, the three institutions plan to use this agreement as an opportunity to continuously discover collaborative projects that reflect the region's characteristics and areas of exchange (such as tourism, local specialties, and the Hometown Love Donation program), including promoting tourism exchanges, selling local specialties, and expanding the Hometown Love Donation program, with the goal of achieving tangible economic revitalization that local residents can truly feel.
In particular, they will work to invigorate group tourism exchanges with Imsil County, a year-round festival and tourist destination, and to establish a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship that goes beyond one-off events such as joint purchases of local specialties and exchanging holiday gifts, by promoting sustainable collaborative projects tailored to the region's characteristics.
Specifically, they will participate in expanding the Hometown Love Donation program and prioritize holding major institutional events such as workshops, forums, and sports competitions in the sisterhood region.
The agreement ceremony also included a screening of a tourism promotional video for the county, and provided a meaningful opportunity to build consensus on the necessity of major pending projects such as the construction of the Okjeong Lake ring road, the Okjeong Lake ecological exploration bridge, and the creation of a global dog experience center-long-cherished projects for Imsil County.
After the agreement ceremony, participants visited the Imsil Cheese History and Culture Center at Imsil Cheese Theme Park, a key tourist attraction, to observe the history and development of Imsil Cheese.
During the Imsil Cheese tasting event, there was notable interest and affection for the quality and excellence of local specialty cheeses, the uniquely rich Jersey-aged cheese that is expected to set a new paradigm in the cheese industry, and the unsweetened yogurt that is enjoying great popularity among consumers.
Subsequently, Minister Koo and Chairman Kim visited the Imsil Cheese Experience Center to participate in a hands-on cheese-making activity, experiencing the value of local specialties firsthand and highly evaluating the competitiveness of Imsil County's tourism and experiential resources.
County Governor Shim Min stated, "It is very meaningful and gratifying that Deputy Prime Minister Koo Yooncheol and Chairman Kim Taehyun have joined us in establishing this win-win sisterhood partnership for regional cooperation," adding, "I hope this agreement will lead to special interest and support for the county, and we will make even greater efforts to promote exchanges with both institutions."
