On September 10, Damyang County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Jeong Cheolwon) announced that it had received disaster recovery financial support of 49 million won from the Korea Local Finance Association for damage restoration and the stabilization of residents' lives following the declaration of a special disaster area.
The county has been enrolling buildings and various facilities classified as public property in disaster recovery mutual aid each year to minimize direct losses from unexpected incidents such as fires, natural disasters, or collapses caused by building deterioration.
Jung Songhak, Standing Auditor of the Korea Local Finance Association, along with executives and staff, visited Damyang County Office to deliver the financial support. Auditor Jung expressed his condolences to the residents of Damyang County and said, "We will continue to do our best so that the various projects of the Local Finance Association can benefit Damyang County."
Governor Jeong Cheolwon emphasized, "I hope the financial support will bring comfort and hope to the affected residents. The county will also do its utmost in the recovery efforts so that residents can return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, the county has also joined the Facility Liability Mutual Aid, a group insurance policy contracted between the Korea Local Finance Association and an insurance company, to prepare for potential legal liability in the event of damage to others' persons or property at public facilities. The county plans to continue strengthening various institutional measures to protect the safety and livelihood of its residents.
