Busan Office of Education to Recruit 307 Public Elementary and Special School Teachers for 2026

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) announced on September 10 the '2026 School Year Public Elementary and Special School Teacher Recruitment Examination Plan' to select 307 teachers for public elementary and special schools (kindergarten and elementary levels) through its official website.

The number of teachers to be recruited this time reflects vacancies resulting from teacher retirements (both mandatory and voluntary) as well as changes in the staffing quotas for elementary and special education teachers. The scale is the same as the one pre-announced in August.

By category, the recruitment includes 276 elementary school teachers (255 general, 21 for persons with disabilities), 10 kindergarten special school teachers (9 general, 1 for persons with disabilities), and 21 elementary special school teachers (19 general, 2 for persons with disabilities). Compared to last year’s 448 positions, this represents a decrease of 141.

Applications can be submitted through the 'Busan Metropolitan Online Teacher Recruitment System' from 9:00 a.m. on September 22 to 6:00 p.m. on September 26. The first round of the exam will be held on November 8, with results announced on December 10. The second round will take place from January 7 to January 9 next year, and the final successful candidates will be announced on January 28 next year.

The examination consists of a written essay on teaching and curriculum in the first round, and an in-depth interview, lesson plan preparation, and demonstration lesson in the second round. For elementary school teachers, an English lesson demonstration and English interview are additionally required. The number of candidates passing the first round will be 1.5 times the number of positions available, and final selection will be based on the combined scores of the first and second rounds.
