From the Hands of the Past to Today's Uses Exhibition and Sale 'The Craft, The Hyundai: From Past Techniques to Today's Uses' Poster

The Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korea Heritage Service will hold the exhibition and sale event, 'The Craft, The Hyundai: From Past Techniques to Today's Uses,' from September 20 to 28 at the main event hall on Basement Level 1 of The Hyundai Seoul in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The event will showcase more than 470 pieces across approximately 210 types of traditional crafts, created through collaborations between national intangible heritage holders and contemporary designers.

This event commemorates the 10th anniversary of the 'Traditional Craft Design Collaboration Support Project.' Over the past decade, 98 heritage holders and 57 designers have worked together to produce more than 600 types and 1,270 pieces of collaborative works.

This year, a pop-up store will open in a department store popular among younger generations, allowing visitors to enjoy both the exhibition and the opportunity to purchase items. Works reinterpreted through the 'Rematching Project' will also be unveiled for the first time, including 18 pieces across 15 types such as paulownia tables and stools, soban-inspired lighting, wanchu vases, and brass Makgeolli cups.

At the venue, products from the traditional culture shop 'K-Heritage Store' will also be available for purchase. A photo zone featuring the Irwolobongdo and Jakho-do, which appeared in the animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' will be set up as well. On September 26, a master of traditional knotting will give a live demonstration of the production process.

The exhibition will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, and until 8:30 p.m. on weekends. Admission is free. An official from the Cultural Heritage Administration stated, "This is an opportunity for traditional crafts to meet modern sensibilities," adding, "We will continue to support the natural enjoyment of these crafts in everyday life."
