Vice Chairman Oh stated, "At a time when the Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway project, which reflects the earnest wishes of our residents, has been suspended, and the unprecedented special prosecutor's raid on Yangpyeong County Office has thrown local administration into confusion, what council members must do is not to fuel further chaos with groundless suspicions, but to reassure residents and restore trust."
She continued, "The Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway is a future strategic project for Yangpyeong that will improve access to the metropolitan area, resolve transportation inconveniences, and revitalize the local economy. In particular, a route including an interchange, which is directly connected to the daily lives of residents, must be included."
She also stressed that ongoing matters should be left to the special prosecutor's investigation, and that now is the time for the council to go beyond political strife and speak with one unified voice, prioritizing the interests of the residents.
Vice Chairman Oh said, "So that Yangpyeong's 129,000 residents do not suffer anxiety and harm due to political controversy, our council strongly urges the government and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to promptly resume the Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway project." She added, "We will be a responsible council that shares the pain with residents and prepares for the future."
