The Goseong-gun Agricultural Technology Center in Gangwon Province, led by Director Do Minyeon, has been renovating existing shiitake mushroom cultivation facilities since 2023 as part of a county-funded subsidy project to newly establish a foundation for floriculture.

Farms fostered through this initiative have recently shipped gladiolus and lisianthus to the Yangjaedong Flower Market, achieving satisfactory results.
These farms, including the one operated by Wonseok Park, are cultivating various flowers on approximately 4,600 square meters in Tapdong-ri, Ganseong-eup, and began full-scale shipments in mid-June. In particular, the flowers shipped have been recognized for their vivid and deep colors and excellent quality, recently fetching the highest auction prices.
The background for these achievements lies in the cool climate of the Goseong region and its distinct diurnal temperature differences. These climatic characteristics enhance the vibrancy of the flowers' colors and serve as an advantage, resulting in prices that are 10 to 15 percent higher compared to other regions.
The Agricultural Technology Center is actively leveraging the local climate by collaborating with the Rural Development Administration to support the establishment of double-cropping cultivation techniques. Through these efforts, the center aims to ensure stable year-round production and increased income for farmers.
An official from the county stated, "We plan to continue supporting floriculture farms so they can establish themselves as a sustainable, high value-added agricultural sector by combining the region's climate with advanced agricultural technology."
