Joint Growth Expected in Tourism, Culture, and the Arts

Damyang County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Jeong Cheolwon) and Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province (Governor Choi Youngil) signed a sisterhood agreement on the 9th at the Sunchang County video conference room, pledging mutual development and the strengthening of friendly exchanges.
The signing ceremony was attended by Jeong Cheolwon, Governor of Damyang County; Choi Youngil, Governor of Sunchang County; Jang Myeongyeong, Chairperson of the Damyang County Council; Son Jongseok, Chairperson of the Sunchang County Council; and around 20 other participants. On this day, the two local governments agreed to establish an active cooperation system across all areas of the community, including administration, tourism, culture, and the arts, and committed to future development through revitalizing private exchanges.
Governor Jeong Cheolwon stated, "I am delighted to form a sisterhood with Sunchang County, a partner in the long-standing 'Gugok-Sundam' longevity city initiative," and emphasized, "I hope this partnership between our two local governments will lead to achievements in various fields, including the joint bid for the Korea Racing Authority Race Park."
Governor Choi Youngil commented, "As Sunchang County, the traditional industry hub, and Damyang County, known for eco-friendly tourism and recreation, join hands, I hope we will share our strengths and grow together."
Meanwhile, Damyang County plans to exempt residents of its sister and friendly local governments from admission fees to major paid tourist attractions in the county. This is expected to provide practical benefits to residents of the partner regions and has drawn attention.
Currently, Damyang County has established sisterhood and friendly exchange relationships with a total of 12 local governments, including Sunchang County; Dalseong County in Daegu; Seongbuk District and Yongsan District in Seoul; Seo District in Daejeon; Gyeryong City in South Chungcheong Province; Jecheon City in North Chungcheong Province; Shinan County in South Jeolla Province; Nam District in Gwangju; Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province; Jungnang District in Seoul; and Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province. The county plans to continue actively developing resident-friendly programs with these local governments and gradually expand benefits for partner cities.
