In the men's recurve team event at the World Championships, the Korean men's archery team advanced to the finals, securing at least a silver medal. The women's archery team, however, was eliminated in the semifinals and failed to reach the final.
The men's national team has reached the finals. The team, consisting of Kim Woojin (Cheongju City Hall), Kim Jeduk (Yecheon County Office), and Lee Wooseok (Kolon), defeated Japan 5-4 (57-56 55-58 54-58 57-54<30-28>) after a shoot-off in the semifinals. In the final, they will face the United States, which features world number one Brady Ellison.
Although Kim Woojin is ranked second, he defeated Ellison in the individual final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, becoming the first-ever male archer to win three Olympic gold medals. Backed by the support of the home crowd, the Korean team will compete for the gold medal on September 10 at the special venue in Gwangju 5·18 Democracy Square.
The women's archery team, consisting of An San (Gwangju Bank), Kang Chae Young (Hyundai Mobis), and Lim Si Hyun (Korea National Sport University), lost to Taiwan 4-5 (56-57 56-54 56-53 52-53<27-28>) after a shoot-off in the semifinals of the women's recurve team event at the 2025 Gwangju World Archery Championships, held on September 9 at Gwangju International Archery Field.
This marks the third time the team has failed to reach the finals, following the 1999 Riom Championships and the 2023 Berlin Championships.
The women's team set a new world record in the preliminaries with a score of 2,070 points, finishing first. They defeated Vietnam 6-2 in the round of 16 and Italy 6-2 in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals, but were stopped by Taiwan. The tournament is conducted in a set system.
