Lim Chaewon, Advisor at Kyung Hee University, Appointed President of the National Human Resources Development Institute
Kim Yongseok, President of Uijeongbu Urban Corporation, Named Chairman of the Metropolitan Area Transportation Committee
President Lee Jaemyung has appointed Jeong Goochang, former Director General for Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, as Vice Minister of Gender Equality and Family; Kim Kyunghyeop, former lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, as Commissioner of the Overseas Koreans Agency; Lim Chaewon, advisor at the Kyung Hee University Institute for the Reconstruction of Human Society, as President of the National Human Resources Development Institute; and Kim Yongseok, President of Uijeongbu Urban Corporation, as Chairperson of the Metropolitan Area Transportation Committee.
On September 9, Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, announced these appointments during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office. Regarding the new Vice Minister of Gender Equality and Family, Jeong Goochang, Kang described him as "an administrative expert with a deep understanding of the field and excellent communication and empathy skills, based on his experience working both at the central and local government levels, including as Director General for Safety Policy at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and as First Vice Mayor of Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province."
Kim Kyunghyeop, appointed as Commissioner of the Overseas Koreans Agency, is a three-term lawmaker who served on the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, Intelligence Committee, and Special Committee on Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation. Kang noted, "He is a diplomatic and security expert with political experience in various fields," adding, "In particular, while serving as a lawmaker, he sponsored the Basic Act on Overseas Koreans, which established the Overseas Koreans Agency."
Lim Chaewon, advisor at the Kyung Hee University Institute for the Reconstruction of Human Society, who has been appointed as President of the National Human Resources Development Institute, previously served on the Presidential Policy Planning Committee, the National Balanced Development Committee, and the Special Committee for Future Generations. Kang emphasized, "He is recognized for his extensive experience in national future strategy discussions, as well as his high level of understanding and expertise in public service and leadership education."
Kim Yongseok, President of Uijeongbu Urban Corporation, who has been appointed as Chairperson of the Metropolitan Area Transportation Committee, worked for over 30 years at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, including at the Multifunctional Administrative City Construction Agency. He also served as Director General of Aviation and Director General of Roads at the Ministry of Land, as well as Deputy Commissioner of the Multifunctional Administrative City Construction Agency. Kang stated, "He is expected to be the right person to oversee metropolitan transportation planning, such as expanding transportation networks, based on his expertise in the transportation sector, and to support the President’s vision for balanced national development centered on the 'Five Major Regions and Three Special Zones' strategy."
