Detecting Call Status and Monitoring Remote Control App Activity
On September 9, SBI Savings Bank announced that it has introduced the phishing detection solution "FakeFinder iOS" to its mobile banking platform, Cider Bank, marking the first time such a solution has been adopted in the financial sector.
With this update, Cider Bank can now detect and block phishing scams in real time not only on Android but also on iOS devices. As a result, customers can access financial services more securely, regardless of their smartphone operating system.
FakeFinder is a solution that determines whether an app is malicious by classifying application information distributed worldwide using a white list approach. Unlike the blacklist method, this solution verifies based on trusted apps, providing a more sophisticated and reliable security environment.
The newly introduced FakeFinder iOS is equipped with a range of features tailored specifically for iPhone users. Notably, it can detect and notify users of call status during financial transactions, check whether remote control apps are running, and verify if a VPN is active, thereby preventing phishing and remote crimes targeting iPhones in advance.
An official from SBI Savings Bank stated, "Amid a recent surge in personal information leaks and financial incidents, SBI Savings Bank is continuously striving to protect the valuable assets of financial consumers by adopting the latest security solutions," adding, "We will continue to prioritize financial consumer protection and do our utmost to ensure that our customers can conduct their financial activities safely."
