Gyeongbuk Development Corporation (President Lee Jaehyuk) announced that it has once again contributed to creating warm homes for vulnerable groups in need of housing support.
On August 29, 2025, Gyeongbuk Development Corporation held a completion ceremony for the 10th branch of "The Happy GBDC House" in Seomyeon, Ulleung County. The event was attended by the corporation, Ulleung County Integrated Volunteer Center, the Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross, and other partner organizations. Nam Geon, Deputy Governor of Ulleung County, and Nam Jinbok, Gyeongbuk Provincial Council member, also participated to represent Ulleung County, which actively supported the implementation of this project in the region, a representative marginalized area of Gyeongbuk Province. The event was a meaningful occasion for all involved.

In Ulleung County, a total of three "The Happy GBDC House" projects have been completed, with the 10th branch's completion ceremony held in Seomyeon, Ulleung.
With this, the corporation has achieved the completion of 12 branches in total, having started with the first branch in Sangju City in 2022 and continuing through the ninth branch. The three new branches in Ulleung County (10th, 11th, and 12th) have now been added to this achievement.
The recipients of the 10th branch are an elderly couple who had been living in an old house vulnerable to wind and sea breezes. The roof of the house was severely damaged, posing a high risk of safety accidents. Therefore, the project focused on reinforcing the roof and renovating the exterior, while also making special efforts to improve the living environment through interior enhancements.
"The Happy GBDC House" is a flagship social contribution project in which the corporation utilizes its expertise in residential construction to renovate homes for vulnerable groups. The project is jointly carried out with the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea, Gyeongsangbuk-do Integrated Volunteer Center, and the Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross, with each organization taking responsibility for funding, dispatching construction personnel, identifying recipients, and post-management.
In particular, for this Ulleung County project, local organizations such as the Ulleung County Sarangui Yeolmae Volunteer Group, the Haedoji Red Cross Society, and the Sambonghoe Volunteer Group participated, further strengthening the region-based support system.
Lee Jaehyuk, President of Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, stated, "This completion ceremony is especially meaningful as we were able to provide warm homes to vulnerable groups living in hard-to-reach island areas. The ultimate goal of this project is to supply homes across all 22 cities and counties in Gyeongbuk Province. We will continue to identify and steadily pursue customized social contribution projects for those in need of housing support."
