Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province announced on September 9 that it has launched and operated the smart tourism integrated platform "YeosuN" since December 2022, combining various tourism information and ICT technology to alleviate inconveniences for citizens and tourists.
"YeosuN" is a smart app that not only allows users to check information on major local tourist attractions and events, but also enables advance reservations and payments for a variety of services, including tourism, accommodation, restaurants, and transportation. Additionally, travelers can enjoy a more convenient trip through features such as QR check-in and audio guides.
The platform provides a one-stop solution for checking and booking flights, as well as real-time information on city bus locations and arrival times. It is also linked to public parking lots that offer one hour of free parking, providing real-time updates on available spaces, fees, and operating hours for each parking lot.
In particular, the app supports mobile easy payment and point payment, and through the prepayment feature for parking fees, users can pay in advance and exit without waiting. The parking fee prepayment service, along with the local specialty shopping service, is one of the most popular features on "YeosuN."
Additionally, the platform offers location-based convenience facility information using GPS data, including nearby restrooms, wheelchair and stroller rental, pet access availability, lockers, nursing rooms, and wireless internet.
With the smart planning feature of "YeosuN," users can receive recommendations and plan their entire travel itinerary, while the real-time inconvenience reporting function allows travelers to immediately report any issues they encounter during their trip.
The platform also provides an interpretation service linked to the Korea Tourism Organization's multilingual interpretation hotline (1330), enabling foreign tourists to travel without inconvenience through chat or phone consultations.
There are also entertainment features available. The augmented reality (AR) character collection service is a mobile stamp tour where users can find and collect 245 AR characters placed throughout Yeosu, offering tourists a unique and enjoyable experience.
Users can leave reviews of their travels and product purchases to earn additional points, creating a virtuous cycle of experience sharing and rewards. In addition, 100 points are credited once per day each time a user logs into the app.
The city is also preparing to launch the "K-Tourism Island Pass" in conjunction with the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, an integrated service program that will allow users to book and pay for transportation such as ferry services, accommodation, food, and experiential events on major local islands all at once through "YeosuN."
A city official stated, "We will continue to update the features of 'YeosuN' to ensure there are no inconveniences in its use, so that both citizens and tourists can receive real benefits," adding, "We will expand various functions related to the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo to complete Yeosu's unique intelligent tourism platform."
