The committee is organized into three subcommittees: energy policy and systems, district energy, and renewable energy. It will provide expert advice on responding to changes in government energy and climate policies, ensuring the stable supply and future strategies of district energy, and expanding and commercializing renewable energy.
Hwang Boyeon, president of Seoul Energy Corporation, stated, "We are simultaneously facing uncertainties in the international energy market and institutional and technological challenges in achieving the national goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. In particular, professional advice is urgently needed to address the dual challenges of stable district energy operations and the supply of eco-friendly heat." He added, "The Energy Policy Committee will not remain a simple advisory body, but will serve as a strategic compass for the corporation's energy transition. We will faithfully reflect the opinions of the committee members in our policies and projects, taking the lead with Seoul citizens in realizing carbon neutrality."
With the launch of this committee, Seoul Energy Corporation aims to further strengthen its ability to respond to Seoul's energy policies and enhance its capacity to implement mid- to long-term strategies for providing citizens with stable and eco-friendly energy, even amid rapidly changing energy environments.
Seoul Energy Corporation is a local public enterprise of Seoul Metropolitan Government that promotes the city's energy self-sufficiency through district energy projects and the supply and expansion of renewable energy.
